Convocation to mark beginning of new academic year

The Randolph College community will celebrate the official opening of the new academic year with Convocation on Tuesday, September 1, at 4:30 p.m. in Smith Hall Theatre.

Convocation will feature time-honored traditions, including lively cheering and singing among the seniors and their sister class, the sophomores. It will be the first opportunity for seniors to march in their graduation robes and funny hats decked out with buttons. Convocation with conclude with the singing of the College song, after which students will assemble around the Sundial to sing more traditional tunes.

Speakers at Convocation include Sandeep Poudyal ’16, president of Student Government, and Randolph College President Bradley W. Bateman. The College also will present awards to faculty and students to recognize their research, teaching, and academic accomplishments.
