The Extant Plays of Sophocles

(in probable order of production, with date of production, if known):

  • Ajax
  • Antigone, 442? (The 2000 R-MWC Greek Play)
  • Trachiniae (The 2020 Randolph College Greek Play)
  • Oedipus the King, after 429? (The 2014 Randolph College Greek Play)
  • Elektra (The 2008 Randolph College Greek Play)
  • Philoctetes
  • Oedipus at Colonus, 401

We often read Oedipus Tyrannos, Oedipus at Colonus, and Antigone together, because they form a connected narrative, but Sophocles did not write them as a trilogy.
