Former Lynchburg Mayor Treney Tweedy
Randolph College is hosting a virtual conference about civil discourse in later this month. Creative Conversations/Questioning Civility: A Mini-Conference will be presented via Zoom on March 12 and 13 and is free and open to the public.
Former Lynchburg Mayor Treney Tweedy will provide the keynote address at 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 12.
A series of workshops, some led by Randolph alumnae and alumni, will follow on Saturday, March 13:
– “Having Difficult Conversations: Moving Beyond Civility,” 11 a.m. to noon, led by equity and engagement consultant Leslie King ’05
– “Stop and Think Before You Get Canceled,” 1 to 2 p.m., featuring Keonte Coleman, assistant professor of journalism and strategic media at Middle Tennessee State University, discussing decency and social media
– “Pine/Cone/Prick: Cultivating Social and Emotional Awareness Through Poetry,” 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., presented by Grant Kittrell, director of the Academic Services Center and the Writing Program at Randolph, and poetry editor of Flock Literary Journal
– Meditation and Breathing Workshop, 4 to 5 p.m., led by Cameo Hoyle ’10, an energy medicine practitioner and holistic body and skin therapist
– Poetry Slam, 6 to 8 p.m., led by Hannah Cohen ’15, assistant director of the Randolph College Annual Fund and a published poet and writer
