The following message was sent from Randolph President Sue Ott Rowlands on Friday, June 30 regarding the recent U.S. Supreme court rulings regarding affirmative action.
Dear faculty and staff,
As you may have heard, the recent affirmative action decisions by the U.S. Supreme Court in Students for Fair Admissions v. University of North Carolina and Students for Fair Admissions v. President & Fellows of Harvard College have prompted institutions across the country to reassess their admissions policies. Though the College is minimally affected by the recent Supreme Court ruling, we remain dedicated to the ongoing evaluation and improvement of our admissions processes to ensure fairness and adherence to legal requirements. The College works closely with our constituents to maintain a robust and inclusive admissions framework that upholds our core values.
Randolph College is known for its long-standing commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. By practicing an innovative and personalized admissions process, the College holistically evaluates applicants, taking into account their unique backgrounds, experiences, and achievements. Our individualized admissions strategy allows us to better understand the unique qualities and contributions each applicant brings to our campus community.
We firmly believe diversity is a fundamental strength of any educational institution, and we remain steadfast in our community commitment “to heed the current call of righting historic silences and the continuous work of equity management in our operations, academic programs, and support services,” as is detailed in our diversity statement, which is located here.
Randolph’s diverse and inclusive community is one of its biggest strengths, and we remain committed to working together to celebrate and learn from our differences as we build a welcoming environment where every member of our community feels valued and appreciated.
Sincerely,
Sue Ott Rowlands
President
