Selda Altan, assistant professor of history, presented “A Quest for Chinese Workers: Global Labor Markets in Coolies and the Making of the Chinese Working Class” at the 56th International Conference of Labour and Social History in September.
She also reviewed Hammer and Anvil: Nomad Rulers at the Forge of the Modern World by Pamela Kyle Crossley for Newbooks.asia and was recently selected to serve a five-year term on the editorial board of the journal International Labor and Working-Class History.
