Music professor Emily Yap Chua recently served on the Composer Artist Fellowship Panel for the North Carolina Arts Council in Raleigh, N.C.
The panel reviewed works by composers in a wide range of styles and selected three fellowship recipients. Along with Chua, other panelists included Mélisse Brunet of Appalachian State University, and Keith Davis of Furman University.
Since 1980, the North Carolina Arts Council has awarded fellowships to artists in a variety of disciplines who have been selected through rigorous panel screening processes. The Arts Council supports artists in their development and the creation of new work because they play an essential role in the creative vitality of the state.
