David Schwartz
An article by philosophy professor David Schwartz, Randolph’s Mary Frances Williams Chair in Humanities, recently appeared in Environmental Values, an international peer-reviewed journal.
In Art History, Natural History, and the Aesthetic Interpretation of Nature, Schwartz examines scholar Allen Carlson’s influential view that knowledge from natural science offers the best framework for aesthetically appreciating nature.
Environmental Values brings together contributions from philosophy, economics, politics, sociology, geography, anthropology, ecology, and other disciplines, which relate to the present and future environment of human beings and other species, aiming to clarify the relationship between practical policy issues and more fundamental underlying principles or assumptions.
