Date rape survivor Katie Koestner to speak at Randolph College

At 18 years old, Katie Koestner was featured on the cover of TIME magazine as the first woman in history to publicly speak about being a victim of date rape.

Since then, Koestner has shared her personal story with more than 5 million students, addressing sexual assault, respect, consent, healthy decision making, and alcohol while encouraging them to become active bystanders in their community.

She will be speaking at Randolph in recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. “No-Yes: Katie Koestner’s Personal Story” will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 19 in Nichols Theatre.

In addition to telling her story in TIME, she has also appeared on CNN, Good Morning America, The Oprah Winfrey Show, Larry King Live, and MSNBC. She has trained officers for the United States Department of Defense and spent 19 days lecturing in India at the invitation of the United States ambassador there.
