The Journal of College and Character recently published an article by Holly Tatum, Randolph College’s Mary Sabel Girard Chair in Psychology.
In “Honor Codes and Academic Integrity: Three Decades of Research,” Tatum reviews research on honor codes that has emerged in the last 30 years—many of which show that honor codes appear to work by educating students about academic integrity and holding them accountable through social norms, expectations, attitudes, reminders, and clear policies.
