Dear Randolph community members,
On behalf of the COVID-19 Task Force, I am pleased to bring you positive news today. As I mentioned in a previous email in February, we have consistently followed the guidance of health officials and the CDC throughout the pandemic. The latest guidance recommends that masks be worn in doors when the level of transmission in the area is in the high range.
I am pleased to report that as of yesterday, Lynchburg is now in the medium transmission category! So as promised, effective immediately, mask wearing on campus is now optional. While I am as excited as all of you, it is important to note that it is still very important for us to maintain good health practices. Wash your hands and don’t go to class or work if you are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms. Also, we encourage anyone who feels more comfortable continuing to wear a mask to please do so. If the level of transmission rises once again, we may need to reinstate the mask mandate. However, the trend in our area is showing a steady decrease in cases, and we hope to see this continue until we are in the low category.
Once again, our COVID-19 dashboard is showing no cases of the virus for this week. Together, we have done a tremendous job keeping our campus and one another safe and healthy this year.
Enjoy your weekend, and thank you once again from every member of the COVID-19 Task Force.
Sincerely,
Brad Bateman
