Randolph and CVCC announce expanded co-enrollment program

Classical Rhetoric and the Power of Persuasion with Amy CohenRandolph College announced this week a new initiative that will grow its co-enrollment program with Central Virginia Community College (CVCC).

The expanded partnership will allow any CVCC student to take a class each semester at Randolph College for free. Previously, students could take a Randolph course for the price of a CVCC course, as long as they were enrolled at the beginning of the academic year. Students must be enrolled in good academic standing and meet any class prerequisites.

“We are knocking down barriers, and this is a way to make a liberal arts education more accessible,” said Travis Carter, dean of admission at Randolph. “We wanted to provide an opportunity for CVCC students to venture outside of their home school to see what other options are available.

Participating CVCC students will also be provided with a Randolph advisor, student ID, and access to Randolph student events.

“This wonderful new initiative reflects a strong commitment from two of Lynchburg’s great colleges to all central Virginia residents,” said Michael Farris, dean of enrollment management for CVCC.  “Our (CVCC and Randolph’s) histories are intertwined with our community, and we have a commitment of service and access for all of our citizens. CVCC Students transferring to Randolph will now have an exclusive opportunity to benefit from a Randolph education.  It’s a great day for Central Virginia students and families!”

“Randolph is committed to making a quality liberal arts education accessible to students,” Carter added. “In addition to reducing our tuition, room, and board 35 percent this year, we offer even better savings for local families with our Local Educational Access Program, which guarantees qualified students will pay no more than $12,000 in tuition or a total of $20,000 for tuition, room, and board.

“This new agreement with CVCC provides even more opportunities to Lynchburg families who are utilizing the community college system to make a college education more affordable,” he added. “The new program gives students the best of both worlds. They are able to experience some of the wonderful faculty and community at Randolph while finishing their associate’s degree at CVCC. It’s a program that will save families money and help students transition more easily to a four-year institution.”
