This summer, Jared Ruddock ’21 entered the vast world of marketing as an intern for Punch Digital Strategies, Inc. in Arlington, Va.
Ruddock participated in 10 marketing projects during the six-week program. Some of the specific aspects of his role included writing blogs, taglines and video scripts, analyzing business competitors, and designing infographics. He is a communication studies major at Randolph.
“I wanted to do this internship to get ahead of the game and start searching for jobs after college,” Ruddock said. “One of my good friends from high school’s uncle is the boss at Punch. He allowed me to come work for him, and I enjoyed every bit of it.”
After he graduates from Randolph, Ruddock hopes to become a sports broadcaster or TV personality.
“This internship factors into what I want to do because in order to be successful in the media industry, you have to learn the basics of communication and marketing,” Ruddock said. “Punch not only taught me the basics, but taught me things that I will keep for the rest of my life. This wasn’t a stereotypical internship where you just sit at a desk all day and give employees coffee. Punch was there with me every step of the way and they made me feel like a part of the family.”
