Anne Wilkes Tucker ’67

Anne Wilkes Tucker ’67, a member of the Randolph College Board of Trustees, is a recipient of a 2017 AIPAD Award.

Established to honor and recognize visionaries who have spent their lives at the forefront of the field of photography, the AIPAD Award will be presented to Tucker during The Photography Show, presented by AIPAD, in New York City March 29. As one of the world’s most prestigious annual photography events, The Photography Show is the longest-running and foremost exhibition dedicated to the photographic medium, offering a wide range of museum quality work including contemporary, modern, and 19th-century photographs as well as photo-based art, video, and new media.

Tucker is curator emerita for the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, where she has curated or co-curated more than 40 exhibitions. In 2001, TIME magazine named her America’s Best Curator, and she has lectured and been cited for her work across the globe. As founder of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston’s photography department, she has expanded the museum’s visual collection from 141 to more than 28,000 images from seven continents.
