Karin Warren, the Herzog Family Professor of Environmental Studies at Randolph, has been elected to serve on the Board of Directors for the Association for Environmental Studies and Science (AESS). Her term begins in June 2018.

The AESS serves the faculty, students and staff of the 1,000-plus interdisciplinary environmental programs in North America and around the world. The organization seeks to strengthen teaching, research, and service in environmental studies and sciences, and to improve communication across boundaries that too often divide the traditional academic disciplines. The association facilitates the professional development of its members, not just as individuals, but also to advance environmental studies and sciences as a whole.

“AESS began a decade ago, and I was thrilled to discover a professional association that served the interdisciplinary community of environmental studies as well as science,” Warren said. “I have been an active member of AESS ever since, and currently serve on the Awards committee. I am passionate about STEAM literacy, interdisciplinary collaboration, and service to community, and as a member of the Board of Directors, I hope to foster collaborative efforts in these areas that will benefit the AESS membership as well as our home communities.”
