Between July 1, 2015 and June 30, 2016, Randolph College raised $15.6 million, setting a record for the highest giving total for any fiscal year in the College’s history.
The largest gift was a planned $7.82 million bequest from the late Laura Maud Battle Winstead ’50 and her husband, Emerson Clarence Winstead, Jr. The gift, which was the second-largest individual contribution in College history, will be used to fund student scholarships, with a preference for students from North Carolina.
In addition to the Winstead gift, unrestricted giving to the College totaled $2.3 million and included $1.86 million in gifts to the Annual Fund as well as bequests from five generous alumnae. Alumni giving participation increased to 25 percent.
“Our record-breaking year demonstrates the commitment of our alumnae and alumni and friends to the College,” said President Bradley W. Bateman. “Their affection and care for the College is remarkable.”
