The Late Roman Villa of Santiago da Guarda (Ansião, Portugal): Architecture and Mosaics in a living palimpsest.

Art historian Filomena Limão, an assistant professor in the Humanities and Social Sciences Faculty at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa (Portugal) is a specialist in Classical and late Roman art, especially mosaics and fresco. The Late Roman Villa of Santiago da Guarda (Ansião, Portugal): Architecture and Mosaics in a living palimpsest. The Museum at Santiago da Guarda, housed in a 15th century tower and 16th century manor house overlies a Roman villa. The lecture focuses on the villa's architecture and mosaic decoration and explores how they are both particular to this site, and linked to the traditions of the region.
