The Politics of Public Display: Museums, Artifacts from the Holy Land, and the Public Trust

Leggett 537, Harold G. Leggett Building - 7:30 p.m.
Archaeologist Morag M. Kersel is Associate Professor of Anthropology and Director of the Museum Studies Minor at DePaul University and co-director of the Galilee Prehistory Project. She has a special interest in cultural heritage policy, archaeological ethics and museum display and exhibition. Using the exhibition of Holy Land artifacts her lecture examines the differing strands of museum obligation - to the public; to students; to board members; the academic community; the country of origin; and ultimately to the archaeological record.
