Cole Torres ’24, ’25 MAT is ready to make a difference as he begins his career teaching physical education at an elementary school in Alexandria.
“I wanted to become a PE teacher because I had some amazing ones growing up who had a positive influence on my life,” he said. “I want to do the same for new generations to come.”
Before enrolling in Randolph’s Master of Arts in Teaching program, Torres majored in sport and exercise studies. He said the hands-on nature of both programs and the personal connections he made within them have prepared him for this next step.
“The professors show a genuine interest in you as a person and not just a student,” said Torres, who is also a member of the men’s track and field team. “They’ll help you become successful not only in the classroom but in a career or graduate school setting.
“The MAT gave me confidence in my career selection as a PE teacher but also in becoming a new teacher,” he added. “They gave me great opportunities to work on my teaching skills and provided feedback that I value a lot.”
