A message from President Bateman regarding all work-related travel

Randolph College President Bradley W. Bateman sent this announcement to faculty and staff regarding work-related travel.

————————————————————————————————-

Dear faculty and staff colleagues,

When I announced the end to air travel for College business earlier this week, a few of you wrote immediately to ask about travelling by other means. My answer then was that I had only banned air travel, not other forms of travel or attendance at conferences.

As the reality of the situation has continued to unfold over the week, and we have seen the importance of social distancing to help stop the spread of the coronavirus, my emergency management team has convinced me that I need to provide more directives and further limit travel. Beginning Monday 16 March, and until further notice, there will be no travel for College business unless it is urgent. If anyone believes they have urgent travel, they should contact their VP to clear that travel (the VPs will contact me) and you should self-quarantine for 14 days upon your return.

I thank you in advance for your goodwill as we continue to seek the best ways to contribute to the public health.

Best Wishes,

Bradley W. Bateman

President
