Randolph learned about the recent sanction once the news release was made public Wednesday. It is important to note that we are not a member of the AAMD, nor have we ever asked to be a member. The organization has no jurisdiction over the College, and since the works exhibited at the College come from a variety of sources, it will not prohibit the College from continuing its longstanding tradition of providing our students as well as our community members with access to wonderful works of contemporary art. The AAMD’s action is unfortunate for those organizations across the nation who may now be denied the opportunity to learn from the wonderful works of art owned by Randolph College.

The AAMD’s most recent action has no bearing on Randolph College and its ability to continue with its mission of providing students with a strong liberal arts education and academically enriching experiences, including access to a collection of American art that remains exceptional.
