Human Rights in China

Wimberly Recital Hall, Presser Hall - 6 p.m.

Perry Link is a leading authority on modern Chinese literature, politics, and intellectual life. A graduate of Harvard University, with a M.A. in Chinese history and Ph.D in Chinese literature, he taught Chinese language and modern Chinese literature most of his career at Princeton University. Link has published widely, and his book Evening Chats in Beijing: Probing China?s Predicament, was named "Notable Book of the Year" by the New York Times. The fate of modern China as seen through literature drew him into human rights work, on which he has written extensively. His most recent book is Anatomy of Chinese: Rhythm, Metaphor, Politics, and his latest project is the biography of Liu Xiaobo, winner of the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize.
