Martin Luther King, Jr., service to feature expert on criminal justice system

Randolph College will hold its annual Martin Luther King, Jr., Service at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 21, in Houston Memorial Chapel.

BROWNDEANKKhalilah L. Brown-Dean, a professor of political science at Quinnipiac University, will deliver the keynote address titled “When Dreaming is not enough: reclaiming the fierce urgency of now.”

Brown-Dean is a nationally-known and respected expert on the American criminal justice system. She is featured in the CPTV documentary, “The Color of Justice,” and serves on the Board of Directors for Prison Policy Initiative; a non-partisan, non-profit organization that documents the impact of mass incarceration on communities across the nation. She is an award-winning political analyst, advisor, and commentator for agencies and organizations including The New York TimesThe Wall Street Journal, and NPR.

Brown-Dean and her husband, William R. Dean, are natives of Lynchburg.
