2015 Fiske Guide includes Randolph College

Randolph College was again recognized as one of the nation’s “best and most interesting” institutions in the 2015 Fiske Guide to Colleges.

The Fiske Guide does not rank universities and colleges numerically, but assesses the strengths and weaknesses of what it considers the top schools in the United States, Canada, and Great Britain.

Schools included in the popular guidebook were chosen from the more than 2,200 four-year colleges in the nation.

The Fiske profile touts Randolph’s strong academic programs, faculty/student relationships, close community, and international focus. “There’s a place for everyone: artists, athletes, academics, and everyone in between,” according to students quoted in the book.

Fiske editors pointed out that at Randolph it is easy to form friendships with professors, since the College does not use teaching assistants. “The professors genuinely care that the students learn the material and even have fun doing it,” one student wrote.

Compiled by former New York Times education editor Edward B. Fiske, the best-selling guidebook, “Fiske Guide to Colleges 2015” ($23.99) offers “a selective, subjective and systematic look” at more than 300 colleges and universities in the United States, Canada and Great Britain. The independent guide offers no advertising nor collects fees from any of the colleges it covers.
