ACCESS SERVICES SCRIBE
Job Title: Scribe
Department: Access Services
Location: Fourth Floor of Lipscomb Library in the Academic Services Center

Essential Functions:
- Attend a training with Program Coordinator
- Assist IT with recording of lectures or other classes requirements.
- Type and email notes to student
- Attend class with visually impaired students and take notes for the students during class.
- Communicate regularly with Program Coordinator
- Agree to all expectations of confidentiality.
- Read exams to students and type their answers for them.
Qualifications:
- Maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA.
- Communicate with both student and Coordinator in a timely and professional manner if you will be absent.
- Regularly attend class.
- Provide high quality notes in within 48 hours.
- Be in a Master’s Degree Program
Additional Information:
- If the designated note taker cannot attend classes due to scheduling conflicts, the Coordinator will request that faculty video record their class and make the recordings available to the student and the note taker via their educational platform (Moodle, Google, etc.).
- The paid note taker may only charge hours for work done outside of class. For example, the note taker types notes in a nice and orderly manner for the student to read.
- The scribe may be requested to type essays for a student during exams. The scribe can only type what the student says, that includes punctuation and indentation. The scribe can in no way assist students with being successful on tests.
Pay: $12.00/Hour
Hours: 10-20 hours/week
Length of Employment: August 2024 to May 2025

If Hired: You must complete federal and state withholding documents, Form I-9 (which requires you to show proof of eligibility to work in the US), and bank direct deposit information, as well as all necessary items in our payroll system, Paycom. You will also be required to complete FERPA training (online) and work and confidentiality agreements. You will not be able to begin work or get paid before you complete these items. See the Human Resources Office, located in Main Hall for more information on the required documentation. The HR office is located in Main Hall and is open Monday-Friday from 8:30 to 5:00 pm.
