Director of Financial Aid

Position Description:

Reporting to the Dean of Admission, the Director of Financial Aid is a strategic and collaborative partner who helps to ensure that the investment of the College’s financial aid resources support enrollment, retention, and the financial sustainability of the College. The Director oversees and administers more than $15 million in financial aid resources in accordance with federal, state, and institutional policies; provides strategic and tactical leadership for financial aid team members; develops and implements policies and procedures; informs and counsels students and parents about available resources; and provides an exemplary level of service to students, families, and internal clients.  The Director will serve a key role in the recruitment and retention of students and also as a contributing member of the campus community to support and advance the mission of the College.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of seven years financial aid experience as counselor, administrator, and manager within a non-profit, higher education environment
  • Knowledge of state/federal regulations and application to daily operations required
  • Proficiency with a financial aid management platform required (PowerFAIDs strongly preferred), including collaboration with IT programmer analysts for upgrades
  • Previous use of the CRM Slate is encouraged, but not required
  • Experience with reporting requirements for SCHEV, CDS, FISAP, and NCAA
  • Experience as an SCO for VA benefits and Tuition Exchange administrator
  • Familiarity with endowment scholarship matching
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, organization, and communication skills
