2:30 p.m. M.A.T. Awards Ceremony. Maier Museum of Art.
The Master of Arts in Teaching graduates will be honored during an awards ceremony at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2020. Awards give recognition to candidates who have earned the highest honors during intern teaching, on the action research project, and those who were nominated for Virginia’s Teachers of Promise. At the awards ceremony each candidate will be recognized for individual achievements and will receive the master’s hood. Master degree hoods are presented during this ceremony and candidates will be formally hooded during Commencement on Sunday, May 17.
4–5:30 p.m. Garden Party. Student Center and Michels Plaza.
Celebration for master’s degree students, undergraduates, families, and guests with the College president, administration, and faculty. Dress: Cocktail attire.
8–9 a.m. Commencement Rehearsal. Michels Plaza. Rain Site: Smith Memorial Building, Smith Banquet Hall.
Participation is mandatory for graduates and squires. (Squires are for Bachelor degree candidates only.) Graduates should come dressed and ready for Commencement. Cap, gown, and hood should be readily available.
9:30 a.m. Commencement Procession Forms. Graduates to line-up beginning at Michels Plaza. Rain Site: Smith Memorial Building, Smith Banquet Hall.
9:50 a.m. Commencement Procession Begins.
10 a.m. Commencement. The Dell. Rain Site: Smith Memorial Building, Smith Hall Theatre.
11:30 a.m.–2 p.m. Buffet Lunch. Cheatham Dining Hall. A buffet lunch is available for purchase; no reservations required. Graduates are guests of honor of the College.
