Since we can’t go to the movies with friends, let’s watch some great movies and talk about them with friends!
Summer Virtual Movie Club presents:

Professor of Media and Culture
Thursday, July 23, 2020
7 p.m. EDT
Online via Zoom (Download Zoom)
Jennifer Gauthier has curated a mini festival featuring films made by women from all over the world. All are available streaming from various providers. Watch the films on your own, and then tune in to the Zoom discussion to share your thoughts. Tune in for the whole series, or tune in for one film, the discussions promise to be lively and thought-provoking.
This week’s selection…
(Agnès Varda, 2017) 1 hr. 34 mins. [Netflix]
Varda is known as the “Godmother of French New Wave.” As a pioneer in the Left Bank group during the 1950s and 60s, she offered an intimate and personal counterpoint to the work of Godard and Truffaut. She was ninety when she made this documentary-travelogue-art film. Varda passed away in 2019, having made over fifty films in her career. If I were a filmmaker, I’d want to be her.
Don’t forget the popcorn!
