07/22/2020 — Lunch and Learn with Peter Sheldon, Professor of Physics & Engineering

Virtual Summer Program Series presents:

Lunch & Learn
Peter Sheldon
Charles A. Dana Professor of Physics & Engineering and Director of the Center for Student Research

Wednesday, July 22, 2020
12:00 p.m. EDT
Online via Zoom (Download Zoom)

Dr. Peter Sheldon will do a demo show showing some interesting properties of light. What does light have to do with energy? With electricity? Is light a particle or a wave? We will look at the properties of lasers and light, such as what is the difference between a green and a red laser? We will look at the emission spectrum (colors of light) from different gases and will discuss how that is relevant to Einstein’s seminal 1905 papers and the transition from classical to modern science.
