Passport Program
Develop, Orient, Introduce, Explore, Participate
It's your first year at Randolph College. It may seem like you've landed on another planet, or perhaps you feel like you've come home, but either way, the Passport Program is your guide to success at Randolph.
So get with the program, the Passport Program!
What is the Passport Program?
There is always *something* going on at Randolph College. Randolph students immerse themselves in everything the College has to offer - Vita Abundantior! The Passport Program is designed to introduce first-year students to the Randolph Experience.
You will attend twelve Passport Events during your first year as part of your First Year Experience. You can choose from more than 60 events - ranging from guest lectures and theatrical performances to volunteer opportunities and sporting events.
Each Passport Event falls under one of four categories...
- Learning
- Self-Management
- Intercultural Competence
- American Culture (IC-A)
- Cross Culture (IC-C)
- College Life
How Does the Passport Program Work?
Credit
- Participate in six events during the Fall Semester and six events during the Spring Semester (for a total of 12 events) to receive 1 credit hour (.5 credit in the fall and .5 credit in the spring) towards your FYS 103 and 104 requirement. All events must be selected from the Passport Program Event List (PDF).
Passport/Paw Pass
- Bring your passport and your Paw Pass to each Passport approved event. We will stamp your passport at the beginning of each event, and swipe your Paw Pass at the end of each event. It is very important that you stay for the entire event, or you will not receive credit for attending.
Reflections
- Reflections are a vital part of your Passport experience. They are a required component of every Toolkit event, in addition to all IC-A and IC-C events. Reflections are due two weeks from the corresponding event date. (Submit required reflections to Moodle.) See the Reflection Rubric for more details.
Required Events
- While you have the freedom to choose the majority of the 12 events you attend, there are five required events. These five events have been designed as a toolkit to aid you in being successful at Randolph. Every student in the Passport Program will attend the five "toolkit" events and complete the accompanying reflections. (see below)
