The RISE Award is another way Randolph College demonstrates its commitment to students and to scholarship. Beginning in the Fall 2009, every first-year Randolph College student will be eligible to receive a RISE Award during his or her junior or senior year. While other colleges and universities offer limited, competitive programs for research and grants, at Randolph College, every student has the opportunity to dream big.
During your junior or senior year, you are eligible to submit a proposal to the faculty department of your major. Once approved, you will receive the award for use in research, scholarly or creative pursuits. Not only do you receive this unique funding, but the proposal application process will provide you with invaluable real-world experience writing and implementing a funding proposal.
Here are just a few possibilities for your RISE Award.
- Take a trip to the Darwin Archives in England.
- Attend a national conference.
- Purchase easels, paint, or other material necessary for an artistic masterpiece.
- Buy computer software or other equipment.
- Travel to New York to learn about the New York City Ballet.
- Purchase teaching materials for your student-teacher requirement.
- Travel to France to study at the Louvre and improve your conversation skills.
