Roomdraw
How To Roomdraw 2011
- Mark your calendar!
- 2012: number draw Tuesday, April 12 all day in DOS; roomdraw Saturday, April 16 10am till 1pm Darden
- 2013: number draw Wednesday, April 13 all day in DOS; roomdraw Sunday, April 17 1pm till 3pm Darden
- 2014: number draw Wednesday, April 13 all day in DOS; roomdraw Sunday, April 17 2:30pm till ?? in Darden
- Register for class.
If you have holds on your account that might affect your ability to register, take care of that now. Only students that have participated in registration for fall are eligible to select rooms.
- Pick a roommate.
To select a double room during roomdraw, you must have an eligible roommate (i.e. she/he must have registered for fall classes). To select a triple room during roomdraw, you must have TWO eligible roommates. Unless you are a member of the class of 2012, do not come to roomdraw expecting to select a single room. If you don’t have a roommate in mind and would like help finding someone to live with for fall, please complete a Roommate Finder Form
(also available in DOS). If, for health reasons, you need special accommodations (including window air-conditioning units), please submit the Medical Accomodations Form
, along with documentation from your physician, to the Health Center prior to April 1.
- Pick a number.
Come to DOS between 9:30am and 4pm on the date assigned to your class, and pick a number. Each student picks a number; you and your roommate(s) will select your room using the best number. Numbers cannot be traded!
- Pick a room.
Come to Darden on the date assigned to your class, and pick a room when your number is called. Because we mix classes within each hall, there may not be rooms available for you in your preferred residence hall when your number comes up. Please have a deep list of options ready.
Proxy
If you will not be able to be on campus for one or both parts of roomdraw, you may designate a proxy to stand in for you and select your room. Anyone on campus can be your proxy—it can be a good friend (in any class), someone from DOS (like me), a professor or supervisor, etc. It is best to choose someone without a conflict of interest—someone who won’t end up competing with you for the room you want. Be as specific as you can on the proxy form. If it is more important to you to live near certain friends than it is to live in a certain room or on a specific floor, be sure to note that. If there are rooms where you would hate to live, list those. Put as many rooms on your preference list as you want.

Petition for a Room Change
During the official roomdraw process, rooms must be selected at full occupancy. Students wishing to live in triple rooms as double rooms, or students who were not able to select single rooms and would like to request them, may submit petitions. These petitions will be processed over the summer should space permit.
