Rhiannon Knol’s ’11 project “Carried upon the Shoulders of the Good Shepherd. Expressions of Christian Identity, and Afterlife on the new tomb mosaics at Leptiminus (Lamta, Tunisia),” was funded as part of the 2008 Randolph College Summer Research Program.
In addition to doing library research on campus, Rhiannon participated in an archaeological study season in Lamta for two weeks (June 1-13), helping to “read” the pottery retrieved from the 2006 excavation of the mosaics, and travelled to sites and museums in Tunisia to see comparable tomb mosaics and archaeological contexts.
