Two students from the Randolph College Chemistry Department have been selected to participate in the College's prestigious Summer Student/Faculty Research Program.
Rebika Shrestha '10 will work with faculty mentor William Bare, assistant professor of chemistry, on "Correlation of Lead Contamination in Soil with Architectural Risk."
Amy Thruston '09 will work with Bare, on "Evaluation and Modification of Bioavailability Extractions for Lead-Contaminated Soils with high Phosphate Content."
Randolph’s intensive eight-week Summer Student/Faculty Research Program puts allows students to work full time with faculty mentors on advance laboratory research and field studies in a wide variety of disciplines. Students live on campus, participate in forums, attend special seminars with guest speakers, and present results and findings at a culminating mini-retreat with other participants. The program is competitive and includes a stipend for project funding.
