Description:
Randolph College, a selective liberal arts college in Lynchburg, Virginia, invites applications for a position funded by the Hilseweck Foundation to enhance the diversity of perspectives at the College. This is a two-year appointment at the assistant professor level beginning July 1, 2010. We seek a scholar who will offer two courses within her or his expertise each fall semester, and who each spring will join Randolph College’s signature American Culture Program, a bloc of interrelated courses and travel-study, which probes what it means to be an American by exploring broad themes (liberty, democracy, capitalism, race, religion, etc.) in American culture. The program includes visits to historic sites, workplaces, government agencies, churches, and museums both in Virginia and in other parts of the United States. Area of expertise is open, but we encourage applicants with strengths in the related fields of Religious Studies, Cultural Geography, and Anthropology. Qualifications: PhD, well-advanced ABD, or equivalent; evidence of scholarly achievement or promise; and success in teaching undergraduates. Salary to commensurate with credentials and experience.

Randolph College is seeking part-time assistant coach for women’s lacrosse. Randolph College is a co-educational institution committed to excellence in the liberal arts and sciences. Description:
The Department of Communication Studies at Randolph College (founded as Randolph-Macon Woman’s College in 1891), an independent, selective liberal-arts institution, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the level of either assistant or associate professor beginning August 2010. The primary qualification is a strong commitment to teaching undergraduates at all levels. Continuing scholarly activity and service to the campus community is expected. A PhD in Communication or related field is required. The program in communication studies at RC draws upon several critical traditions in the field: rhetoric, cultural studies, political economy and film criticism. The new faculty member should have a proficiency in the critical study of one or more forms of mass media, such as radio, television or digital media, with a focus on media history and technologies, texts, audiences or industries/institutions. Research that engages with the global nature of communication and/or focuses on media in a particular region outside of the United States, such as East Asia, is preferred. Currently the position entails teaching two core courses: Introduction to Mass Media and Communication Technologies and Culture; five electives, and participation in a team-taught two-semester senior capstone program. The successful applicant will be free to develop courses in her/his area of specialization and have the opportunity to help shape the future of the college and the department.

Randolph College, a selective liberal arts college, invites applications for two tenure-track positions beginning Fall 2010. The Economics Department wishes to broaden its coverage in two areas: 1) our new business major and 2) applied microeconomics. Areas of interest include but are not limited to: accounting, advertising, corporate finance, finance/investments, international business, marketing, business ethics, microeconomics, environmental economics, and health economics. The teaching load is 3 courses per semester, plus participation in the senior seminar. Preference will be given to those who have demonstrated quality teaching and who approach the business curriculum from a liberal arts perspective; also to those who have completed PhDs and/or DBAs prior to September 2010.

Description:
Tenure-track position in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, beginning July 1, 2010. A Ph.D. in Physics or closely-related discipline is required. Teaching experience in basic engineering courses and/or astronomy is desired. We seek a natural scientist whose first priority is high-quality teaching, including research with students, in a competitive liberal arts college. The successful candidate will demonstrate ability and interest in teaching and scholarship, enthusiasm for community involvement, and will help to develop and strengthen the physics programs. Responsibilities include teaching introductory and upper-level physics, possibly teaching basic engineering courses or astronomy, developing and modernizing laboratories at all levels, and scholarship that encourages undergraduate research. Position will direct a comprehensive media relations program focused on national and international visibility; create and produce all strategic college communications; serve as coordinator of the President’s weekly communications meetings; oversee the ongoing development and production of the College’s website; collaborate with the President, Admissions, Development, and Alumnae to develop and produce all communications; supervise OCR staff managing priorities, deadlines, and expected staff performances; coordinate the College calendar; work with all areas of the College in the creation and execution of special events; prepare and manage the OCR budget; serve as a member of Senior Staff; and chair the College’s Visibility Committee meetings. The Programmer/Analyst will provide support to the College’s client/server based administrative software programs working to put processes in place to allow users to have front-end tools for processes and will develop applications based on institutional requirements. Must be a team player, possess strong communication and project management skills, and be very competent in working with SQL Databases. Must be skilled in ASP, VBScript/ADO/OLE DB, TSQL, ODBC, JAVA/Jscript, XML, Microsoft Access, Excel, and report writing. .Net a plus. Basic knowledge of Linux helpful.
