Resources and Opportunities for History Majors
Research, writing, and presentation are valuable experiences in any field. The senior seminar project for history majors is an opportunity to gather these experiences into a presentation on a topic of your choice. Recently topics have included "The History of the Founding of the Lynchburg Academy of Music" (which won the prize for the best senior paper), "The History of Urban Legends," "The 'Selling' of the British Monarchy in the 20th Century," and "The Role of Women in Modern Irish Nationalism."
Many students also participate in internships or study-abroad programs. Recently, we've had interns at:
- Thomas Jefferson's home, Poplar Forest
- the Date Heritage Trust
- the Atlanta Opera
- the Virginia Hospitality & Travel Industry Association
In addition, many Randolph College students participate in summer research projects.
