Randolph College offers you many campus services that will help you while you are a student here. Whether you are trying to search for a summer job or internship, bank on campus, or improve that big paper due in your English class, Randolph can help!
Please see the links below for specific campus services. For more information, you may want to consult the Student Handbook that you will receive during orientation or contact the Dean of Students Office.
If you need contact information for a specific office, please visit the link entitled contact information for email addresses and phone numbers.
Banking
Many local businesses will accept an out-of-town check if it is printed with a student’s campus address and presented with an Randolph student ID card.
However, many students enjoy the convenience of having a local checking account. Regional banks, including SunTrust, BB&T, Bank of America, and Wachovia, traditionally have representatives on campus the day that first-year students move in. Because the College has a bad check policy that is linked to the Honor System, it is recommended that students open checking accounts that include overdraft protection.
BB&T is a five-minute walk from campus and has an ATM that is available around the clock. The other banks are farther away. The Student Center has a BB&T ATM for student convenience.
The Cashier’s Office will cash College-issued paychecks for students on the monthly payday.
Counseling Center
Joining the Randolph community will be exciting, yet even the most exciting transitions may be stressful. The psychologists and counselors at the Counseling Center offer confidential support to individuals and groups. You can discuss issues including:
Counseling Center services are free of charge.
For more information, visit the Counseling Center web site.
Dining Services
All resident students have a plan for three meals per day, with the exception of days immediately prior to and after College breaks. The meal schedules for those days will be announced to students well in advance. The Dining Service program receives a very high rating from students.
If you have dietary concerns that you would like to discuss with Dining Services Director Jeff Ledbetter prior to your arrival, you may call her at 434-947-8129 or e-mail him at mrodhe@randolphcollege.edu .
The Health Center staff can also help you with concerns related to diet. You may reach the Health Center by calling 434-947-8130. During the summer please leave a message and a staff member will return your call within one week.
Ethyl Science and Mathematics Resource Center
The Ethyl Center, located in Martin Science Building, is a hub of scholastic activity for students taking mathematics, biology, chemistry, and physics classes. The Center is comprised of four designated areas: a computer area, a library area, a study room, and the office of the Ethyl Center Director. The computer area includes PC compatible computers, a scanner, and a laser printer. All computers are networked and have access to the world wide web. Derive, Mathematica, Hyperchem, Sigmaplot, and Chemdraw are examples of some of the math and science-related software that is available. The library area and study room provide a comfortable place to study, and a small library of reference books and videos is available.
Peer tutoring for math and science courses is based in the Center. Students can schedule private appointments with a math/science tutor, and tutors are also available on a drop-in basis. Tutoring services are free of charge.
For more information, visit the Ethyl Science and Mathematics Resource Center web site.
Experiential Learning Center
The Experiential Learning Center (ELC) combines learning in the classroom with experiential opportunities beyond the classroom and assists students in defining their career goals.
The ELC offers many programs designed especially for first year students. In your first year seminar class, you will take the FOCUS career assessment, which assesses your interests, values, and skills. The results will give you major and career options to explore. After taking the FOCUS assessment, we encourage students to make an appointment with one of the career counselors to discuss the results. If you have already decided on a major, you will want to visit the ELC to research occupations that relate to your major. To see what careers and job titles are appropriate for each major, go to www.randolphcollege.edu/career_planning.asp.
The ELC professionals will also assist you in finding internships, externships, and volunteer opportunities in the community. To help you explore the world, the ELC is the place to come to discover the wide variety of study-abroad options. Make it a priority to visit the ELC during your first year at RC.
Health Services
Health Service offers a variety of prevention, treatment, health promotion, and educational services and resources to students and the College community. We require all full time students to have health insurance to help cover costs.
The following health and immunization forms are required by the College. You can download these and other necessary forms in PDF format off our forms page. Please see Timeline and Deadlines for more information.
For more information on Health Service, including insurance information, visit the Health Service web site.
Looking for computer system requirements and other related information?
Go to Information Technology .
Our goal is to support the College in its use of information technology resources. More specifically, Information Technology exists to provide easy-to-use, functional, current, secure, and appropriate technologies (and adequate training in their use) to students, faculty, and staff. We strive to educate and encourage the RC campus community in its use of computer technology.
Randolph College provides numerous computing facilities. Computers are provided in open, public locations for student use and are replaced every two years. In addition, computers are available in each residence hall. Laser printers and scanners are available in all public computer labs. All faculty and staff have access to their own computers as well, and all classrooms are wired for network access, including the Internet.
We look forward to answering any additional questions you may have. Feel free to e-mail us at helpdesk@randolphcollege.edu or call 434-947-8103.
For more information, visit the Information Technology web site.

Macon Bookshop
You'd expect a college bookstore to be full of textbooks, but you'll be surprised at the variety of reading materials and other items you'll find at the Macon Bookshop.
Need some leisure reading materials? The bookshop sells newspapers, bestsellers, books written by alumnae, and those having special interest to the Randolph community.
Need to show your spirit? You'll find a great selection of Randolph College clothing, caps, cups, pens, and other miscellaneous items. The bookshop also offers a great selection of items for alumnae and soon-to-be graduates.
Plus there's a great little coffee bar to give you that extra perk while you're browsing and a selection of snacks and sundries to keep your residence hall room shelves supplied.
For more information, visit the Macon Bookshop Web site (opens in new window).
Parking
Students must register all motor vehicles—including motorcycles and motor bikes—in their possession with the Director of Safety and Security at the beginning of the fall term or within three days of acquisition at any later date in the academic year. If a motor vehicle is replaced or if a new license number is obtained, a student is required to notify the Security Office within three days of the change.
Students who park on campus must pay an annual parking fee of $50. Students entering at the beginning of the spring semester will be charged $25.
No fee will be charged to amend vehicle registration.
All vehicles parked on campus must display the College parking decal in the lower right-hand side (passenger’s side) of the rear window. This is a state law.
Special and handicap parking permits will be issued as needed.
Please remember that vehicle registration does not guarantee a parking space nor does the College accept any responsibility or liability for loss or damage to any vehicle or its contents at any time.
Auto Insurance
If you will have a car at Randolph, it is crucial that you understand fully the requirements and the limits of the policy under which you will be insured. If your auto insurance is provided through someone else’s policy (for example, your parent), be sure that you and the policy holder have a prior mutual and clear understanding as to how you will use the vehicle while you are in school. This will help prevent problems and misunderstandings later.
Writing Lab
Peer tutors and an assistant professor of English staff the College’s Writing Lab. Tutors work one-on-one with you at all skill levels on a self-referral, faculty-referral, or drop-in basis. Tutors function as responsive readers (but not as editors or proofreaders) at each stage of the writing process, from brainstorming to polishing a final draft.
For more information, visit the Writing Lab web site.
