International Students

Arrival and Check In - August 2010
International students should plan their travel to time their arrival to campus on Thursday, August 19. Once on campus you will stop at the Switchboard in Main Hall to pick up your room keys and have your Paw Pass ID badge made.

Orientation for International Orientation
International students have a two-part orientation to attend. The first part is International Student Orientation August 19-23. This part of the orientation focuses on cultural orientation to the United States and is coordinated by Nancy Goulde, coordinator of International Student Services. The second part of the orientation program continues on August 24 and continues through August 29 . The second part of orientation will focus on orientation to Randolph College academic and campus life. Both programs are mandatory for International Students.


Athletes

Arrival and Check In - August 2010
Athletes who will be playing women's & men's soccer and cross country, and women's volleyball should plan to arrive on Tuesday, August 17 (subject to change) between 9 AM and 12 noon. Once on campus you will stop Main Hall to check in, pick up your room keys, have your Paw Pass ID badge made, and pick up parking decals if you will have a car on campus.

Orientation for Athletes
Orientation for new athletes is in two parts. The first part of Orientation begins on Tuesday, August 17, at noon with a welcome lunch. The Fall Sport Athletes will spend Tuesday afternoon on a community service project, while the parents will have an opportunity to attend a Parents of Athletes Orientation . Parents and family members are welcome to return for Parent & Family Orientation on Tuesday, August 24 and Wednesday, August 25.

Athletes will join the regular Orientation programs at dinner on Tuesday, August 24. New Student Orientation programs are coordinated with Fall Sport Athletic practices, so athletes will not miss any practice times or any of the important orientation sessions. Practice begins Wednesday, August 18 for Fall Sport Athletes. Practice sessions will take place in the morning and afternoon.

If you are interested in trying-out for any team at Randolph but have not corresponded with the head coach, contact the headcoach directly .

New and Transfer Students

Arrival and Check In - August 2010
All other first-year and transfer students from the United States will move into the residence halls on Tuesday, August 24, from 9 AM - 2 PM. Once you arrive on campus please stop by the Main Hall Lobby. We will have stations to check into Orientation and pick up your room keys. You will have an opportunity to get your Paw Pass ID badge made once you have settled in. After checking in you can begin moving into your residence hall room.

Orientation
Orientation for first-year and transfer students will begin Tuesday, August 24 and continue through Sunday, August 29. Parent and Family Orientation begins on Tuesday, August 24 and concludes Tuesday, August 25.

Please Note: Other early arrivals are not permitted. Students will need to make arrangements to stay at one of the local hotels if they arrive before their scheduled move-in.

Transportation from Airport, Bus and Train Stations

Transportation from the Lynchburg airport, train station, or bus station is available through the following companies: Airport Limousine & Delivery (434-239-1777); Allied Cabs (434-845-7039); City Cabs (434-846-0231); Gray Top Cab (434-845- 4554); and Hill City Cab (434-845-8554). In working with the airlines or with a travel agent, you may find it useful to share that the call sign for the Lynchburg airport is LYH and that the airport is served by US Airways Express and Atlantic Southeast/Delta.

Shipping Your Belongings

The Randolph College Mailroom will be ready to accept shipments of luggage, boxes, and trunks from incoming students on August 10. Packages should be addressed as follows...

Students may check out hand trucks from the Dean of Students Office to use for moving items from the Mailroom to their rooms (Handtruck rental is $10 deposit and a 2 hour time limit). Because space is limited, please ship as few boxes as possible.

Get Help Moving In

Porters will be available to help students move in on Tuesday, August 25. The porters work for tips; tipping guidelines will be available at check-in. Please bring small bills since sources of change will be limited.
