9:00 - 12:00 Nursery School Program
All students attend the 9:00 - 12:00 Nursery School program. The children are divided into two classes, a junior class for 3- year olds turning 4 and a senior class for 4- 5 year olds. Each class participates in a variety of whole group and small group activities as well as self chosen play activities, such as the block area and dramatic play areas. Teachers encourage cooperation and foster problem solving skills as children learn to play and work together. Many different units of study are covered throughout the year such as Animals of the James River and Winter Activities. Art projects are designed to encourage self expression, reinforce concepts and build fine motor skills. Lots of time is spent enjoying books, finger plays, nursery rhymes, and music, all necessary for building the skills needed for reading, writing and arithmetic. There are lots of opportunities for exploring, asking questions and discovering.

There is a combined music time each morning in the common’s area. Our children learn so much from each other. Not only do we enjoy music for its own sake, we learn to follow directions and develop good listening skills. We enjoy instruments from all over the globe and participate in dancing and acting.

9:00 - 1:30 Extended Day Program
Our extended day allows a child to stay until 1:30 and enjoy lunch at school (perfect for the parent that works part- time.) Both classes come together at noon to say goodbye to our morning friends and then enjoy their lunches brought from home. Lunch is followed by a group activity and outdoor play time.

7:30 - 4:45 Full Day Program
After the 1:30 pick - up, the full day children prepare for nap with a favorite story. Each child is provided with a mat, pillow and lots of TLC from teachers to make nap time an enjoyable experience. Children awaken to a snack and a variety of activities to choose until picked up at the end of the day. Our afternoons and our early mornings are slow- paced with plenty of individual attention to meet the special needs of full day children.
