Randolph holds Veterans Day ceremony

IMG_7756Members of the Randolph College community paused Tuesday evening to ponder the sacrifice of soldiers who have served in wars around the world.

The Veterans Day ceremony in front of Main Hall included music, poetry, and prose. Several elements of the event, including a poppy wreath and the recitation of some lines from Laurence Binyon’s poem “For the Fallen,” were inspired by the Last Post Ceremony at Menin Gate, a World War I memorial in Belgium. Several Randolph students saw the ceremony on a recent study abroad trip that focused on the way the war is memorialized in Europe.
