No Shame Theatre returns to the Randolph College stage this Friday in a “Best of No Shame” event that will reunite some of the most popular acts from the Lynchburg talent showcase.

“No Shame” is a movement that encourages artists to try out new ideas in a supportive environment where performers are not ashamed to attempt new work. Randolph began hosting No Shame: Lynchburg events in 2010. Currently, the event is scheduled to take place monthly.

Usually, No Shame: Lynchburg functions like an open mic night, with up to 15 performers signing up for five-minute slots before the show begins. However, Best of No Shame will include several performers who have performed at the events in the past and were invited to take the stage for the special event.

“We have several exciting acts lined up,” said Ashley Peisher ’15, president of the Randolph theatre club, Sock & Buskin. Acts by Randolph students, faculty, and Lynchburg community members will include poetry readings, musical performances, improvisational comedy, a puppet show, and more, she added.

The Best of No Shame will begin at 9:30 p.m. Friday in the Lab Theatre, room 203 in the Harold G. Leggett Building. The next No Shame events, on November 7 and December 5, will begin at 10:45 p.m. A $5 donation is recommended for admission.
