Sign Language Interpreter

Randolph College has an opening for a full-time sign language interpreter. Position reports to the Coordinator of Access Services. The Staff Sign Language Interpreter provides sign language interpreting services for assigned D/deaf or Hard of Hearing student(s). The position requires fluency in CASE and SEE as well as the ability to interpret content and vocabulary at the post-secondary level. The Staff Sign Language Interpreter must be able to adjust to a range of student needs and preferences, and work comfortably with College faculty, staff and other students at the College. The ability to convey accurately the register, tone, intent, and content of all communication exchanges is required. The Staff Sign Language Interpreter accepts responsibility for knowledge of and adherence to the Code of Professional Conduct co-authored by the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, Inc. and the National Association of the Deaf.

A minimum of three years of experience in an educational setting and a VQAS III or national certification is required. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality is a must. Good written and oral communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with the assigned student, faculty/staff, and other students. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong organizational skills. Completion of an accredited Interpreter Training Program preferred
