Lighting / Sound Assistant

Basic requirements of Lighting / Sound Assistant

Job: The Lighting/Sound Assistant helps the Venue Tech Coordinator prepare, hang, focus, gel lighting instruments, runs light boards / sound boards, helps setup mics, headsets, sound cues and helps out where needed in rehearsals, shows & events.

Availability: Need to be available for rehearsals and events held in the Smith Hall Theatre and other locations on campus, which may be in the evenings and on weekends.

Abilities: Able to listen well to instructions and work independently or as part of a team. Able to lift up to 25lbs. Able to climb ladders as needed (comfortable with heights). Able to sit or stand for extended periods of time.

Skills:  Basic Theatre knowledge in lighting and or sound. Fast Learner. Works well with their hands and tools. Able to clearly communicate both written and verbally and be comfortable working with others.

Preferred: Theatre Tech Student that has run Light Boards and or Sound Boards. Knows basic Theatre terminology and is able to read Light Plots, Magic Sheets and or Cue Sheets.
