Director of the Office of Identity, Culture, and Inclusion

Randolph College seeks an energetic, self-motivated person with a passion for students and creating a supportive student life experience for a diverse student body to create the role of director of the Office of Identity, Culture, and Inclusion. The director serves as a campus leader on issues of inclusion, equity, social justice, and diversity. The director oversees an office that seeks to affirm the unique identities of people while building a community that strengthens itself from these identities and cultivates leaders who will integrate the value of human diversity to the world. Represented in the office are services and support for students of color, international students, LGBTQ+ students, first-generation students, and spiritual life.

Key responsibilities for the role include:

  • Create, implement, and assess diversity and cultural initiatives and programming that are consistent with student development and cultural identity theory based learning outcomes and promote cultural diversity, access, inclusion, awareness, and equity.
  • Serve as Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) and SEVIS Coordinator, managing SEVIS reporting and compliance
  • Advise cultural based student organizations
  • Work with the Office of Admission to recruit students from traditionally underrepresented communities; support recruitment of international students and ensure their smooth transition to the College, including reviewing and determining eligibility of prospective students when needed; and keeping the Office of Admission informed of changes and updates to laws and procedures relevant to international students.
  • Advise international students on immigration as well as other issues such as financial, academic, social, adjustment to campus life and to the United States, health insurance, taxes, campus jobs, Social Security, and personal issues
  • Collaborate with the Office of Student Success to develop strategies to retain students from traditionally underrepresented communities
  • Supervise a part-time chaplain and one student assistant
  • Participate in the administrator on-call rotation

Job Qualification Requirements:

  • Master’s degree required in student personnel, higher education administration, counseling, cultural studies, or related field
  • Four to six years of progressive experience in Student Affairs administration, preferably in areas working with traditionally underrepresented communities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and public communication skills
  • Flexibility in managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent problem solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to positively and professionally represent the College to a variety of constituents
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing equity, diversity, inclusion and multiculturalism within a complex organization
  • Sense of diplomacy, sensitivity, and objectivity
  • An understanding and respect for a liberal arts education
