Opportunities for Experience

Randolph biology majors may conduct laboratory or field studies culminating in presentation of their senior research projects through talks and poster displays.

A few recent examples include:

  • Associative learning and the foraging of harvester ants
  • The effects of prenatal exposure to avian and mammalian sounds on the auditory imprinting response in chickens (Gallus gallus domesticus)
  • Susceptibility of representative intestinal biofilm bacteria to clindamysin

Frequently students participate in internships, summer research projects, or study-abroad programs.

Recently, we had interns at:

  • Lake Baikal in Russia (studying environmental problems)
  • Lake Tahoe in California (studying environmental problems)
  • Windhaven Equine Clinic
  • Virginia Baptist Hospital
  • Framatome Technologies

In addition, many Randolph College biology students participate in summer research projects.
